Terms of Service
Effective August 2, 2026 · Last updated August 2, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and LarpedIn (“LarpedIn,” “we,” “us”) covering your use of the LarpedIn website and everything we offer through it (the “Service”). By creating an account, signing in, voting in a battle, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and what we do with it, and forms part of these Terms.
1. What LarpedIn is
LarpedIn is an entertainment and self-improvement game built around career profiles. You add your professional background, an automated system produces a career score and written feedback, and other users compare profiles head-to-head in short ranked battles that move an Elo rating and place you on public leaderboards.
LarpedIn is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to LinkedIn Corporation or Microsoft. “LinkedIn” is a trademark of LinkedIn Corporation and is used here only to describe interoperability: you may sign in using your LinkedIn account, and you may link to your LinkedIn profile.
The Service is a game. Scores, ranks and feedback are opinions generated by software, not assessments of your worth, employability, or professional competence.
2. Eligibility
To use the Service you must:
- be at least 16 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live;
- not be barred from using the Service under any applicable law;
- not have previously been removed from the Service, unless we have expressly invited you back.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Terms.
3. Your account
You sign in through a third-party identity provider, such as LinkedIn. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Tell us at legal@larpedin.app promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
One person, one account. Creating additional accounts is a breach of these Terms, including doing so to vote on your own profile, to farm rating, or to evade a suspension.
4. Your content
“Your Content” means everything you submit: your name, headline, summary, work history, education, skills, projects, links, uploaded or pasted résumé text, and anything else you enter. You keep ownership of Your Content.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and publicly display Your Content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. That includes showing it to other users in battles, on your public profile, and on leaderboards, and sending it to our AI providers for scoring and feedback. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained as described in the Privacy Policy (for example, in routine backups) and for anonymised or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.
You represent and warrant that, for everything you submit:
- you have the right to submit it and to grant the licence above;
- it is about you, so do not upload another person’s résumé, profile, photograph, or personal details;
- it does not infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, and does not breach a confidentiality obligation you owe to a current or former employer;
- it does not contain confidential, export-controlled, or special-category personal data.
5. The Service is public by design
Ranked play only works if profiles can be seen. When you complete onboarding, the following is readable by anyone, signed in or not:
- your name, headline, avatar, summary, school, country and LinkedIn URL;
- your experience, education, skills and projects;
- your AI career score, its sub-scores and written explanation;
- your Elo, peak Elo, rank tier, win-loss record and achievements;
- your battle history, including which battles you won and lost.
Your XP ledger and your private coach tasks are visible only to you. Do not put anything on your profile that you would not want a stranger, a recruiter, or your employer to read.
6. Ranked play and fair use of the rating system
Battles are decided by other users’ votes. Ratings move according to an Elo formula that we may change at any time to keep the ladder healthy. You agree not to:
- vote on your own profile, or coordinate votes with others to move a specific rating;
- use bots, scripts, or automation to vote, battle, or claim rewards;
- create or use multiple accounts, share an account, or buy, sell, or transfer accounts, ratings, XP, or achievements;
- exploit a bug, or continue to use one after noticing it, rather than reporting it.
We may reset or adjust any rating, XP total, streak, or achievement; remove a profile from the leaderboards; void the results of specific battles; or suspend or terminate an account, where we reasonably believe the ladder has been manipulated.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- impersonate another person, or misrepresent your identity, employer, education, or affiliation in a way intended to deceive;
- post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that targets a person or group based on a protected characteristic;
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect profiles or scores, or use the Service to build a competing dataset or product;
- use the Service to screen, rank, or make decisions about real candidates, employees, or applicants;
- probe, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours;
- reverse engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable.
8. AI scores and feedback
Scores, sub-scores, strengths, weaknesses, coach tasks and improvement suggestions are produced by large language models, or by a deterministic fallback when no model is available. They are generated automatically, are not reviewed by a human, and:
- may be wrong, inconsistent between runs, incomplete, or unfair;
- are not professional, career, employment, legal, financial, or educational advice;
- do not predict, guarantee, or indicate hiring outcomes, salary, or your standing in any real labour market;
- should not be relied on for any decision about you or anyone else.
We make no promise that a score is accurate or that it will stay the same when the model or the scoring rules change.
9. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, wordmark, logo, copy, and the scoring and ranking systems, belongs to LarpedIn and its licensors, and is protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service as intended. Nothing else is granted.
10. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without restriction, obligation, or payment to you.
11. Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties, including an identity provider for sign-in, a hosting provider, a database provider, and an AI model provider. Their processing of your data is described in the Privacy Policy. Links to third-party sites, including LinkedIn profile links posted by users, are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for third-party content or practices.
12. Suspension, termination, and deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time, and may request deletion of your account and its data by writing to privacy@larpedin.app.
We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where practical, if you breach these Terms, if your use creates legal risk or harm to other users, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination do so, including sections 4 (licence, for content already displayed), 9, 13, 14, 15 and 17.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that scores or rankings will be accurate, or that defects will be corrected. This is a hobby-scale game; it may change or go away.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LarpedIn will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, goodwill, data, or reputational harm, arising out of or relating to the Service. This includes harm you attribute to a score, a rank, a lost battle, or the public display of your profile, and applies even if we were advised such damages were possible.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty United States dollars (US$50).
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LarpedIn from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of anyone’s rights.
16. Changes
We may change the Service, and we may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the “Last updated” date above and take reasonable steps to notify you. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You and LarpedIn agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court. If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this section does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there.
Before filing a claim, please contact us at legal@larpedin.app. Most issues can be resolved that way.
18. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the provision is limited to the minimum extent necessary.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- No agency. These Terms do not create a partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
